The Butterfly Project: One Butterfly = One Child

We have been making some butterflies lately to send out for The Butterfly Project (info below). Patricia (4 years old) calls them butterfly babies. We used watercolors and pipe cleaners to create these:

and tempera and stencil to create these:

And I additionally made few more zentangled butterflies like these:

Details about The Butterfly Project (excerpt from website):

In an effort to remember them, Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies. The butterflies will eventually comprise a breath-taking exhibition, currently scheduled for Spring 2014, for all to remember. The Museum has already collected an estimated 900,000 butterflies.

Please facilitate the “I Never Saw Another Butterfly” activity and create as many handmade arts-and-crafts  butterflies as possible. This project may be completed by all ages as individuals or groups.
  • Butterflies should be no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches.
  • Butterflies may be of any medium the artist chooses, but two-dimensional submissions are preferred.
  • Glitter and all glitter-related products should not be used.
  • Food products (cereal, macaroni, candy, marshmallows or other perishables) also should not be used.
  • If possible, e-mail a photograph of your butterflies, to butterflyproject@hmh.org.
Please send or bring your butterflies to the Museum by Dec. 31, 2012, with the following information included:
  • Your name,
  • Your organization or school,
  • Your address,
  • Your e-mail address, and
  • The total number of butterflies sent.

Mail or bring your butterflies to:

Back to Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone! I know many of you are wondering where I dissapeared so I just wanted to post shortly that I'm more than fine just a little bit over-busy with a little bundle of joy that was born at the end of October! :) Baby girl's name is Izabela and she turned 2 months today, on Christmas. You can all imagine how much I'm enjoying a newborn! Specially all those face expressions when she's sleeping! She even laughs out loud in her sleep! :) A little bit more trouble I'm having in spending enough time with her big sister... But it will all come to place soon, I hope. :)

Anyways, I do plan to come back and start posting regulary (as possible) in January.... But until then.....

I wish you all Merry Christmas!
Hope you get to spend warm and fuzy day with your family and friends!
(Just don't eat too much! ;)
And see you around here in a New Year!

Setting goals for Best Toys for Toddlers blog...

After trying to run this blog on WP platform, I had to give up and move it here. Somehow, I feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings of Blogger. For first post here, let's set some goals to see what shall we do around here!

Subjects we'll write and discuss here about are:
- Fun alert. Introducing very best toys for toddlers along through reviews created by parents, grandparents and other care givers.
- Great finds. Sharing ideas, games, online sites.
- Review? how to! We'll add few posts with tips and tricks how to write and publish great toy review.
- Parents are experts. Weekly interview held with parents who also happens to be bloggers and / or lensmasters.

We are planning to have fun along the way and hopefully our future readers will find information we'll share here in the future useful!
