Summer Play Inspiration - Play with Rocks

This week's topic for Share & Play on our Facebook page was summer fun playing with rocks. There were many great suggestions how to turn this everyday, everywhere available natural item in creative ways to make playtime with toddlers more interesting and fun. Today, we'll share these ideas with all of you here so you can take a look and recreate some of these ideas at home with your own toddlers!

  1. Thanks for the inspiration! We love rock painting! The picture holder idea is great. This past Spring we found a lady at a craft show who makes the cutest insects from wire and rocks. It's too hard for little hands, so we bought some. (2 spiders, a dragonfly, and a butterfly)
    I think we'll be able to make the picture holders. Yay!

  2. It's important to give children access to good quality materials, especially paint and papers, and to allow them some control and decision making over what to use, how and when.

  3. What a great collection of ideas & inspiration. Who can resist a pet rock?

    We have a handy, near-by beach with THE most amazing, flat rocks instead of sand. As an adult I love to go and make rock sculptures, stacking a playing.
